Erosion Painting No6

£1,600.00

2008

Oil and Acrylic on Canvas

190cm x 250cm

Part of the Erosion series of paintings in which layers of paint built up and then partially removed, creating a conversation between painting and 'un-painting'.

This painting was made with the idea that it was large enough to be just propped up against a wall rather than being hung so it sits in the same space as the viewer and therefore creates a direct relationship with anyone looking at it.

Artist Profile

I use paint for its material and sculptural qualities. I build up layers of various paints and take some of them away again using techniques that bring a level of chance into the work and add a level of risk.

I try to create a tension between the controlled making stages and the unpredictability of some of the processes used as I push these processes as far as I can.

Using painting materials, I also create sculptural art objects.
