Art for you or me can be tricky to find when you don’t know where to look.

Well look no further! DegreeArt has new artists joining each week, many of them within budget of £500 or less. One of DegreeArt director Isobel’s top tips, is to keep a particular eye out for new DegreeArt artists between May and July, for the best graduate talent around! We will be hand selecting and show it and you will potentially be picking up a great investment, for an affordable price, before the artist becomes well known.

Above Right - 'Abstract Garden 1' by Leanne Hughes. Original painting, acrylic on canvas. £200

Art shouldn’t be out of reach for those that want to enjoy it. The aesthetics of art alone should be appreciated by all, whether the philosophy, context, or history surrounding it is relevant or not.

The diversity in medium, style and colour of our DegreeArt artists is valued highly. We can choose freely from a huge variety of art that is affordable, long lasting and most importantly, based on personal taste.

Above left – 'City of London 3' by Anne Mortenson. Limited edition of 10. C-Type pint. £150

Above right - 'Piccadily Circus in the 60's' by Mohan Ballard. Limited edition giclee print. £130

The revolution of digital printing techniques has most definitely had effect on the surge of young art collectors who perhaps before could not have afforded works by their much love artists.

Above right - 'Pair of Amber Bee Goblets'  by Sara Newman. Sandblasted Glass. £89

Limited edition, signed printes of original drawings, paintings and photographs can obtain such high detail and colour variation that we often need not own the original.

When buying from DegreeArt there is absolutely nothing to lose when you are offered a 14 day trial period in your own space, as well as monthly payment plans, you will barely notice you have bought the lovely new piece hanging on your wall!

Top tips from Isobel and Elinor at DegreeArt on how to spot an affordable artwork.

  • Keep your eyes peeled, particularly between the months of May and July for new graduate art that we hand-select and exhibit on the website and in the gallery each year. The prices are often affordable as the artists are trying to get established and we want to help promote their work as soon as they graduate to a host collectors eager to spot the next big art name to emerge.
  • Look for something that grabs your attention, often your gut instinct about an artwork is the correct one and you should follow that pull. With so many categories to be found at DegreeArt.com you can tailor your search to your interests, lifestyle and personal aesthetic tastes.
  • Always check the artwork for the artist's signature, as this is part of the provenance of the piece that could help you realise your investment in the years to come. It also ensures it is an original
  • If you are buying a print, ensure the print run is a limited edition of, ideally, no more than 25 and that the artwork is signed a showing its limited edition number.

Give us a call anytime to discuss a piece of artwork you are interested in. You could arrange to meet the artist, discuss your payment plan, or talk about a potential commission you would like to make. Whatever it is, if you are interested in our artists, get involved and get on your way to becoming an art collector for your own space!
