The primary focus in my art practice has been that of evoking, through a visual medium, the sense of fantasy— which is naturally inherent in human beings. The method I have used for expressing this idea has been that of automatic drawing in terms of its immediacy as a direct way of visualizing my thoughts and a way of expressing unconsciousness and creating imaginary beings. In this type of drawing, the artist’s hand freely moves across the surface and creates images by chance, therefore the drawn images are strongly related to randomness and can reveal the artists’ subconscious state of mind. This drawing contains peculiar characters illustrated on canvas which sometimes hide from the viewer’s eye and spread on the surface, being positioned all over the field. The Landscapes in this work are somewhere that can be represented in people’s primitive sensitivity to the fantasy world based on the view of the real world. Likewise, I would like to present different views of the real and imaginary worlds.
