My Senior school education was at Brighton and Hove High School for Girls, which is part of the Girls Day School Trust. At Brighton Hove and Sussex Sixth form college, I took Photography in my second year at AS level and gained an A grade. This year’s study has literally changed my life as I discovered my great love of the subject.
I spent 2 years at Brighton and Hove City College, and successfully gained a BTEC National Diploma in Photography earning 2 Distinctions and a Merit.
I have spent the last two years at the University of East London studying for my BA (Hons) Degree in Photography, after having transferred from Brighton University where I passed the first stage of the degree. I chose to go to the UEL as it was in London where the action is and photographic opportunities are. I originally intended to go straight on to study for a Masters but I feel now that I need to have some experience in the Work place and so am going to wait a little while. I would love to study for a Masters but what with Fee increases at the moment this just isn't possible. I am still considering doing an MA and also looking into the possiblitly of studying in the USA and shall be grateful if anyone could assist me with a bursary.
During my studies I have found that my forte is with landscapes and travel photography and I hope to specialise in this area. I have my own website called http://www.hytphotos.com . Recently I also published a book through Blurb with images from the Cuckmere Haven East Sussex series. In 2009 I won the award Landscape photographer of the year with DegreeArt.com .
I have now completed my final year and now hold my BA Hons degree in Photography. I was awarded a travel bursary to go to Helsinki.
At the moment I am taking a gap year and shall be concerntrating on expanding my final years project called 'Everything Is Not What It Seems'.
All images are made to order.
