2011 stone lithographic print on BFK Rives paper. Artist proof unframed. This piece is slightly different from my usual subject matter. Instead of a figure within the landscape it shows ‘You’ the cat. She sits in a field at the foot of the South Downs under the moon. The title for the piece was taken from a song.

Artist Profile

I am a graduate with a degree in Fine Art from UWIC University in Cardiff. I live in West Sussex where I am continuing my artistic practice.

At University I specialised in Stone Lithography. I found this to be a very exciting medium in which to produce my art. Stone Lithography is a much overlooked print making technique; however I find it produces results unlike any other printmaking process. I work in both colour and black and white and create prints in a range of sizes. I have recently sold the print which won the Welsh Assembely Govenment Award in my final year to the Heritage Minister there.

Whilst I have worked in a range of other mediums both at University and commercially including painting, photography and murals, Stone Lithography is my passion. I believe there is something amazing about using a piece of limestone in which to create a print. Although the process is completely logical, at times it does seem almost magical. I can create effects and textures that cannot be created in any other way. Even if I devoted my life to studying Stone Lithography I would still be unable to learn everything. It is a truly remarkable way of making art. My work is driven by my belief that Fine Art should be something which can appeal to people’s visual senses as well as their intellect and I also aspire for my art to be accessible to a diverse audience.

I have now set up my own Stone Lithographic studio in order to embark on some innovative new print projects.

Please note that due to the way I work I do not produce editions but many different versions of the same image by using different colours for each one. This can change the impact and emotions of the piece and means that none of my work is exactly the same.
