Information DOCUMENTARY FINALISTS Scott Fynn University of Brighton, 2009 ‘Pauline’ Mounted upon 5mm Black Foamex with matte laminate Limited Edition of 25 This project was based at Pegasus Grange retirement complex in Oxford. The site contains a range of communal rooms and ninety flats, all of which are privately owned by people who live independently. Initially I expected Pegasus to be a depressing place with the residents living sad and restricted lives. However, my experience proved to be very different. Many of the elderly residents, although physically restricted in a variety of ways, were still leading active, dignified and independent lives. This inspired me to capture in a positive and celebratorary way the daily activities taking place at Pegasus and the lifestyle of its close-knit community. |
