Information 'About Yourself, About Others' by Kate Turnbull University & Course: Nottingham Trent University, MA Textile Design and Innovation. Medium: Mixed Media, Framed Textile Art Piece. Artist Profile: While journeying through ideas I often find a contemporary link to the past. My work features themes such as identity, femininity and memory that I translate into something tangible, using modern techniques on textiles. It is challenging to visualise a concept with my creative skills while ensuring I add a smile and wistfulness to my pieces. Creating conceptual textile art, which will be inclusive, engaging and beautiful. Piece Description: Extracts from my Grandmothers Prayerbook inspired this work. Thinking about who we are and the important people who touch our lives. Both the emotional imprints and the literal impression we leave behind. The work was created with a layering process of techniques; hand-dyed felt, object reliefs, screen-printing and lasercut. |
