I am a London based artist. My work taps into fantasy realms with surreal undertones and hidden meanings, with elements drawn from my favourite B movies and horror films. I am also a member of the East Finchley Open Arts group. I won Barnet recycle photography competition 2006 and Art's Depot People's Choice Award 2007 for my Edward Scissorhands inspired piece at Tottenham cemetary. What is your favourite film of all time? Donnie Darko. What music are you currently listening to and why? Dance music because it’s uplifting Which living artists do you most admire and why? Jeff Wall - Greg Crewdson - Anne Hardy - Tim Burton - they are all unique perfectionists and I love the surreal gothic-ness of the works . Which exhibition that you have visited made the greatest impact on you and why? Anne Hardy at the V&A Museum as I was studying her styles for my own self built still life works. What is the question you get asked most frequently about your work and how do you answer it? Are all the photos on my website my own! Yes they are, I use a variety of cameras and equipment from digital to large format film. What/ who inspired you to be an artists? It is in my bloodline to be an artist; my family is full of artists and creative people. My Great grandfather wrote a detective series and my grandparents loved photography. Can you tell us about where you make your art and what if any the significance of this location is? Well for my end of year show I used a garden and garage location in North Finchley just near where my late grandparents lived. So the skyline is very familiar to me as a child growing up there. What is your greatest achievement as an artist to date? Winning the Peoples Choice Award 2007 & being accepted to partake in Platform for Art 2008. What are your plans for the coming year? To keep on creating unique surreal works that invoke a feeling in others. |
