All Day Breakfast  Kitchen Escape

Waiting for a Ride

"My work is inspired by the art and consumer items that are present in the Japanese cute culture, after all they are bright colored, ever present and televised. The Western academic establishment has reasoned that the Japanese have an affinity to represent themselves in a cute guise as, well, the world and life are less scary that way, in theory. That's in theory, in practice I wish you to see my paintings, which deal with highly individual emotions of loneliness, boredom and introspection to the point of sexual solitaire."

Untitled- F. Preece, Victorian tttUntitled - Emily

Untitled- Shirine

"With her works, Yuma is attempting to explore the boundary between figurative depiction and an accidental abstraction. Technically, her paintings could be categorised as 'portraits' but she considers them not to own the conventional function of portraits as the formal particularity of a depicted individual (s) is disappearing from her canvas and hence they shift and assimilate to the abstract side. "

'Untitled- F. Preece, Victorian', 76.3cm x 61cm, £1,500
'Untitled - Emily',58.8cm x 38.4cm , £1,350

  Leaning Woman   Posing Girl

Grided Gil

"What I attempt to achieve is not only to celebrate the human figure but also to emphasise how an image can be constructed through grids and how that in tern manipulates the image.

This interest in grid structure spawned from studying graphic design for two years, during this time I developed an interest in Russian constructivism the futurists and Modernism. It was this obsession with construction, layout and movement, which gave me a strong foundation to work from."
