Virtual Friend

My art practice is centered around social networking and how contemporary society communicate and conduct their relationships today. Through my observation of people using mobile technology, looking at text language and, my investigation into Chat-rooms, my work offers the observer a view into contemporary relationships. This exciting age of techno-socalising is a phenomenon of the 21st century of which has never been experienced before; affecting society& mode of communication, its relation with others and intimacy within human relationships. Much of my recent work comes from direct observational drawings which are uploaded onto a daily blog and has become a sort of on-line diary. My earlier work was largely created from photographs using my mobile phone. I believe through drawing the eye absorbs more information and detail than through photography. The whole process of drawing and then painting from these drawings helps me to build up a relationship and understanding of my subject matter. The link to my blog is below.......
