Expectations
Expectations
Year:2010 Medium: Mixed - chiefly acrylics and oil paint on canvas In 2010 an artist friend of mine offered me rental space in her large studio. This was an exciting opportunity for me and I was able to begin painting in the large sizes that excite me.Expectations was the largest painting that I painted in 2010. I enjoyed it so much that I have gone on to paint a series of large square paintings that I am really pleased with. Expectations is called just that because I want the viewer to bring their own expectations to the work - once the artist has finished the viewer then becomes the "owner" and brings their interpretation to bear on the work. That we are all different and like different things, means that everyone will choose different paintings - like Life, isn't that just wonderful! Like Journey, this painting also graced the walls of The Willow Gallery in Oswestry, Shropshire for its inaugural exhibition in October 2010.(see second photograph, where you can also glimpse some of my other paintings). I have been invited to show in San Francisco, and this painting had just been removed from its stretcher when a buyer in Vyner St. gallery requested it and bought it.
