Downham Church sits at the top of hill not far from where I live. I drive past almost every week. The churchyard has many trees, flowers, animals and of course gravestones. It is full of the transient- things that are only temporary. But the church is constant and although it may be added to its presence remains. Thus this painting is about things that pass and things that remain the same, the church which represents faith and the surrounding nature.
