My piece Inside, Outside presents the urban building as full in weight, cubic and monumental, only to become lost in spatial delimitation, invisible in its mirrored glass-like transparency. In this work the inner city horizon line is presented as vertical and diagonal. Buildings are rendered as sharp, geometric shapes, but maintain a reflective and shadowed image of what lies beyond them. In their painted form these hard-edged linear shapes coexist in opposition to organic paint spills. These painterly spills mimic the sky`s unrestrained meanderings around architectural forms, while the sharp lines of contrast celebrate the tensions between revealing and obscuring the sky.
