A fusion of digital images taken from the Rembrant museum, Leeds Victorian Quarter, textiles and an old rag doll are fused here to suggest a narrative. A candle, the abiding image of transcendence, glows before this 16th century enclosed and possessed female. She is surrounded by the female trappings of today, bags, zips, golden pins - while she displays on her person those valued in her life, pearls, a ring, lace, richly embroidered velvet. She clasps a rag doll, as she herself is clasped and surrounded by another’s arm and hand.
