Gallus Editions
Interview
What is your favourite film of all time?
As we are a collective, we have many filmic favourites that have often influenced our work, from art films, to current cinematic releases.
What music are you currently listening to and why?
We all have a great passion for music as well as art. A shared love of Jazz and Blues runs through the Gallus Editions collective, some of us play and make instuments also.
Which living artists do you most admire and why?
There are so many between us, we will confer and get back to this question with a definitive top ten!
Which deceased artist do you most admire and why?
As above.
Which exhibition that you have visited made the greatest impact on you and why?
Again, between us we must have been to thousands of inspiring exhibitions, we will all have a think and report back with our number one!
What is the question you get asked most frequently about your work and how do you answer it?
We are all asked various questions about our own individual practices, but the most common query for the collective is how do we print the works in such a way that captures so much of deatil of the original works, like the brush strokes, the shadowing and the colours? The answer is the lighting and photographing of the original work to the highest spec, using a very high grade of wragg paper to print on, great inks and the know how of Regan Fina Art Printers.
What / who inspired you to be an artist?
There are various influences from our parents, some of whom were also artists, to tutors and peers at art college.
Can you tell us about where you make your art and what if any the significance of this location is?
We are all Welsh-based artists and have studios in and around South Wales. The dramatic landscapes and coastline of Wales is hugely inspiring for us photographers and painters a like. The sudden changes in the weather conditions in this part of the country means that the light, mood and environment of one place can take on a completely new and different forms and personalities within a very short space of time. We love it and are constantly inspired by the forces of nature that shape this beautiful scenery.
What do you like most about being an artist?
It fills a need for all of us. Art is a way of life for us and not making and creating would leave us all feeling incomplete.
What is your greatest achievement as an artist to date?
We have all taken part in national and internataional exhibtions over the years, we make and living from our artwork yet we are still striving to succeed further.
What are your plans for the coming year?
To continue to exhibit and make work as a Gallus Editions, collective and take time to examine and further our own paractices.

Artist's statement
On the 23rd February the Gallus Editions collective, fresh from their prestigious January launch at the Welsh Assembly, travelled to the Capital to open an inaugural London exhibition of new print-works. These works have been constructed by ten of Wales most established artists, including internationally known names such as Harry Holland, Kevin Sinnott, Paul Beauchamp and John Macfarlane. In all, ten artists will be showing four framed prints, each print is in an edition of 100 and available for purchase.
Gallus Editions was founded in 2011 by Harry Holland, Paul Beauchamp and Steve Young, with the desire to make high quality limited edition prints of their work to be sold at an affordable price. They quickly realised that if they publish and distribute their work directly they could reach a much broader range of collectors, some of whom may not have considered buying art before and they could also offer fellow artists am alternative way to present their work to the public.
Gallus Editions is pleased to be working in partnership with Regan Fine Art Print Production to produce these exquisite prints that are not mere reproductions, but works of art equivalent in quality and durability to artists' prints produced by tractional methods.
