Profile

I desire spiritual depth of my painting which can be able to sense without words. I want my art work has profoundly influence on both interacting viewers and space. My work starts from believing. The motto of my art in life is “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. …what is seen was not made out of what was visible. [Heb 11:1-2]” I hope by faith I make my art expose what we cannot see but feel it. Make Visible inside mind. Bring ‘light’ into my art.

I am engrossed in the improvisational moment of creation. In this moment, I contain and seal my feeling and thought into my painting’s layer. Each overlapped layer covers unlikeable part of my painting to conceal inner emotions securely. The long for exposing the invisible inside and making it visible led to the tenacity of transparency. I made these inner layers transparent to show penetration of each layer. It makes it impossible to disguise them, and reveals them through and through.

Louise Bourgeois _ I want to do my art in my whole life time like her. Richard Wright_ I was stand the front of his wall painting for a long time. It was the most absorbing piece I have ever seen.Peter Doig- His oil painting is profoundly deep. I love his colours of his painting. Keith Tyson_ Specially, I like his series called, Methematical Nature Painting, and he explored diverse way to find his paintings. I was surprised to see his book. It’s totally different art approaching.

Which deceased artist do you most admire and why?

Joan Miro- I saw his work in Spain. It was different by text book picture. I like his bold paintings. I can feel his confidence. His painting is breathing in surrounding space.Marc Shagall- I love his Stained Glass. His work was my starting motto of my painting to admire light in my painting.

Which exhibition that you have visited made the greatest impact on you and why?

Louise Bourgeois exhibition in Korea. This is the first exhibition I cannot move the front of her work. I can feel her life and her suffering with father. It was obvious, strong and honest expression of art. She is never stop her work through her life. I admire her attitude tower art.

What is the question you get asked most frequently about your work and how do you answer it?

Actually, I don’t like this questiion, but most frequently I’ve got from viewer is “What is material of your painting?”. They are curious about my painting material first. I am always answer honestly. “It’s acrylic transparent medium”

What / who inspired you to be an artist?

Artist is my dream from my age of 12. It was never changed.I inspired by my mom. She listened to my mind to be an artist and supported me. The motto of her life is “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. …what is seen was not made out of what was visible. [Heb 11:1-2]” And it became my motto of my art in my life. She always say “You can be a greatest artist in the world” By faith, I make my art.

Can you tell us about where you make your art and what if any the significance of this location is?

In my gap year, I cannot draw anything I went to India. I could not be happy without painting. Nothing else could fill my inside but painting. I felt empty when I couldn’t draw. At that time I realize, my destiny to be an artist for my life time. Now I’m make my art in London.

What do you like most about being an artist?

I have all my freedom to manage myself. Exhibition is always giving me excitement of being present. I am enjoying with viewer who can feel my art deeply. Painting is the only method to express my deep feeling to the world. I can’t think any way to have other job except artist.

What is your greatest achievement as an artist to date?

I can’t say greatest achievement….Every exhibition…is so important to me. Even if it small and group show. As always exploring new painting………that’s most important thing I think.

What are your plans for the coming year?

Planning 4th Solo exhibition in Korea. Want to find venue to show my art in London. I want to have a solo show in London in near future. Now I’m preparing to apply artist in residencies
