Artist's statement
Nathalie Deshairs's thought process is a quest for lightness, for the weightlessness of a soul unburdened by earthly matters. A free soul? In her works, she offers us a succession of instants capturing different states within this quest, against a backdrop of our own humanity.
Nathalie Deshairs is a colourist. To her, colour is transparent, never opaque, like a thought, evanescent...
Thanks to a medium that is so specific, thanks to patterns that dance and entwine, rising off the page and sketching out a body in equilibrium, she transports us to a place beyond our reach, in a space between the heavens and the earth, between spirituality and materiality.
