DegreeArt is proud to announce that the work of Andrea Tyrimos will be featured at the Centrepoint Silent Auction in order to help raise funds for and promote awareness about homelessness in the United Kingdom. After graduating from Central Saint Martins with a degree in Fine Arts in 2009, Tyrimos has acheieved many notable awards, including the 'Signature Art People's Choice Paintings Award' and the 'Art & Escape Award.' Her work focuses on the phenomena of artificial light and the issue of electronic reproduction. Her paintings originate from her own photographs, with the images often taken from low resolution mobile phones and cameras.
From Thursday 1st November to Friday 9th November, bidders at the silent auction will have the unique opportunity to purchase her original artwork, with all proceeds going towards Centrepoint. Centrepoint provides accommodation and support to homeless people ages 16–25. Tyrimos’s featured audio-visual artwork HEART ON HER SKIN depicts Catherine, a former Centrepoint resident, and her continuing battle with mental health. On this piece, Tyrimos’s says, “I wanted the raw linen to be exposed, to highlight both the fragility and strength of skin and character – echoing Catherine’s struggles with being without a home, and its effect towards her mental health. The unfinished nature of the hair and clothing forces the viewer to engage with Catherine’s gaze, while listening to her innermost thoughts via an audio recording.”
We are pleased that Tyrimos’s unique talent is being used to further such a worthy cause. To bid on the auction, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
