The emerging trends for 2022/23 would appear contradictory in any other year yet, somehow, they make perfect sense as we regain our sense of direction, focus and understanding of what matters most to us.
GLAMOUR & GLITZ
The indulgence of Glitz and Glamour plays a key role as we seek out and embrace ‘luxury’ more frequently and on occasions we never have before. Fashion is predicting that ‘Going Out’ will make a dramatic comeback with the accompanying sparkle and shine needing little justification! In art, we are witnessing an emboldening of our collectors who are placing statement art, previously the preserve of formal rooms, full of lavish colour, plush texture and glossy finishes, in all areas of their home. This revelation is having a transformative effect on both the space and its occupants.

It is often tempting to only place art in your ‘special rooms and spaces’, however, don’t ignore the rooms you spend most time in – the kitchen, your bedroom or your hallways. You can lavish these walls and spaces with opulent art and ensure they receive the most attention and appreciation.
REAWAKENING & OPTIMISM
The notion of 'Reawakening' and 'Eyes Wide Open' optimism, embraces all that is refreshing and full of anticipation and promise of the good times ahead. Each day now holds new and more appreciated meaning for us and we look forward to the talks, events and the coming together with friends and family that had perhaps, before, become mundane or overlooked. We can plan once again and we are doing so carefully to ensure that not a moment is wasted.

These trends could all sound frivolous were it not for the grounding and sincere intentions of the final trend, which is re-emerging with renewed vigour. We have become very certain, that whilst we want the little luxuries and to delight in the new, it is only fathomable if it is Enduring and Sustainable. We are making our collecting and purchasing selections with greater care and only once we feel comfortable with the provenance and longevity of what we are acquiring. Fast fashion is out and lasting luxury is very much the way we intend to invest for the future. Look for earthy tones and neutral pigments in artworks, as well as elements of the natural world.

This will ensure your artist is able to forge a sustainable and enduring career.
