Contemporary Collective in partnership with Bankside Hotel, a design forward and award-winning hotel, are bringing guests and visitors a rich and immersive art experience through the Maker in Residence programme.

With his focus on urban landscapes, data and sustainability Luke M Walker was the ideal choice to launch this partnership with Bankside Hotel. Luke will be helping Bankside Hotel achieve their goal of engaging guests in a one-of-a-kind artistic experience. The hotel is keen to involve their guests and visitors in a programme of events through exhibitions, talks, workshops, and events.

The hotel’s love of art and design and interest in sustainability and Luke M Walker’s unique creative process make this partnership a perfect match. Here at the gallery, we will continue to cherish the partnership and give our artists all the support they need to make the residency an integral part of their success in their art career, while helping Bankside Hotel’s give their guests a truly original experience. During his residency, guests and visitors are welcome pop by and meet with Luke. In addition we will be holding several events and opportunities to spend time understanding Luke's practice and getting involved in one of his data walks.

Join us for an evening of Q&As with artist Luke M Walker who will be nearing the end of his 3 month residency at Bankside Hotel's studio. BOOK NOW ​

WALK WITH THE ARTIST EVENT: Saturday 23rd February 2019 | 10:30 - 12:00 BOOK NOW

Luke invites you to join him on a data gatherting walk on Saturday 23 February. Luke envisages a 1-1.5 hour walk along the Southbank to London Bridge, crossing it, walking up to the base of the Monument and then walking back up to Tower Bridge before looping back along the Southbank, via City Hall, down the side of Southwark Cathedral, past the Globe, Tate Modern and back to the hotel. The loop is about 3 miles in total. He'll talk a little about walking from an Artist's perspective and look at a few of the paintings he made along this route. You can also colate your own data and hunt for 'found notes' to add to the artist's growing collection.
