DegreeArt.com Presents 2008 Central Saint Martin’s Graduate
Lewis Scott’s Debut Solo Show
‘Transient City ’at their gallery, 30 Vyner Street, London

'The Transient City' looks to examine the city as a place of movement and transformation through and around a static architecture. The work aims to represent the city of London and others as a place of atmosphere and emotion dictated by light, weather and architecture.

Architecture is of great importance to the work, as is the EVENT within the city, the daily life of the urban landscape as a living breathing organism - this movement and energy influences the painting style and is conveyed in the work itself, depending on the makeup of the city of study.

Using bold and impressively mature impressions across his canvases, Scott displays a confidence that well exceeds his 21 years. His ability to capture emotion and atmosphere is incredulous as is the scale of many of his works.

Scott who is inspired by artists including John Virtue, Wolfgang Tillmans, Jackson Pollock and Turner, paints using mostly black ink as a way of working towards achieving and conveying the atmosphere or integrity of a piece of architecture or a city without clouding it with colour or shading.

'The Transient City' is the debut solo show of Lewis Scott, who has just graduated this June from Central St Martin’s with a BA (Hons) Design, Environment and Architecture.

Scott has been represented by DegreeArt.com Ltd since 2006 who predict a promising career for this young artist. His work hangs in many private and corporate collections.
