“The life that I have Is all that I have And the life that I have Is yours. The love that I have Of the life that I have Is yours and yours and yours. For the peace of my years In the long green grass Will be yours and yours and yours” Leo Marks The poem is taken from a book containing a poem for every day of the year, This one is for 11th July, the day of the assault. It is a sort of mantra for the love from friends and family that has been getting me through this difficult time, It sort of sits over the idea of the 4 stages I went through, shock, fear, anger and acceptance as I paint it now with a new positive outlook. I shape the meaning to suit me .Out of context it has new meaning as the poem is originally a code for the French Resistance, so I use the poem as a code to communicate my own experience and ideas. Stage II, Fear, the yellows and reds creep in like a slow sensation as they creep up your spine and engulf your world. ‘Love is yours’ is stamped over the piece from the poem like a positive energy now in the present that I hold.
