2 minutes black and white Digital film This project, Absorb is merely a part of an on going look in the detailed process of filmmaking and the use of this time-based medium. The move into filmmaking was a natural progression from the previous projects, where there were still images / paintings trying to evoke a non-linear narrative and complex concept which proved as a problematic clutter. The access to the medium opened a world, which could create this complex non-linear imagery and invite audience without directly explaining each aspect of the frame as a form of text direction. This particular piece was chosen from a series of short films produced, as it has the strongest notion of concept interlaced with the film process. The Film’s concept is around the perception of how an idea is generated, its discovery and then its realisation, which is achieved as an anthropomorphic fallacy in which a dark liquid spreading over material structures almost like an explosion, a fillip or a virus out breaking uncontrollably. The flow of the liquid process creates the idea before connecting it together to one point.
