University of the Arts (Postgraduate in Photojournalism , 1999)
Nadia Attura graduated from The London College of Printing with a Postgraduate in Photojournalism. She works as a fine artist based in London. Featured in The New York Times and The Guardian, Nadia Attura collects photographed details made on location, which are then layered in camera or at the studio. These form a tableaux of collected scenes within a scene and together they convey a sense of place and time. Nadia uses washes, paints, chalk and ink, which she layers digitally onto the final image. Often the original photograph disappears from documentary single imagery toward a more painterly poetic interpreted view of the world.
In Ocotber 2018 Aesthetica Magazine writes 'Nadia Attura a photographer who works with layering techniques to create complex compositions. Often grappling with ideas of idealism and paradise, the bright images are multifaceted tableaux, combining unexpected objects, settings and colours to construct uncanny depictions of desirable destinations." Nadia's artwork was selected and exhibited for The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2016 (all 75 editions sold out). This year her work has been shortlisted for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2018. Nadia's work features in prominent residential and public projects across the world.
