Three Trends for 2021
Introducing three trends that are influencing art and design in 2021.
Whilst the Japandi and Warm Earth trends both share common characteristics that clearly link them to the environment and nature, Neon may seem less associated. However, this luminescent trend has moved towards pastel shades that are softer than those we associate with the 80s and the neon revival of 2019. We hope you find inspiration in these three collections.
Inspired by two timeless styles - Scandi and Japanese - Japandi offers calm but characterful elements in art and design.
Whilst the overall effect is of careful simplicity, the level of detail, texture and layering that is often involved in the creation of artwork in this style, results in understated elegance.

2. NEON BRIGHT
Neon made a big comeback in 2019 and it has stayed with us over the next 2 years. This year, has brought a gentler, toned down hue of neons that sits between fluorescent and pastel.
Artists are using these shades in their artwork to highlight forms and figures as well as contemporize traditional subjects. This year Lee Herring launched a piece that uses neon paint to make elements glow in the dark

3. Warm Earth
Warm colors and earth tones including Emerald, cobalt, burnt orange, and mustard yellow are all hues that are bringing inspiration to artists and designers.
Combining these natural patterns, shapes and textures with materials such as linen, wood, clay has provided a sincere and comforting design trend that steers us gently away from the neutrals that have dominated for so long.
