THE LAUNCH OF THE SIGNATURE ART PRIZE CHINA

On Saturday the 21st September Signature Art Prize Co-Founder and Artellite Gallery Director Elinor Olisa attended the official launch of the Signature Art Prize, China in Shenzhen.

Held in the brand new Global Original Art Centre at the International Art & Design Centre (IADC) in Shenzhen, the launch confirmed the global ambitions of the prize which was founded in London in 2006. Run in partnership with established fine art and interiors company ARTCLOUD, the Signature Art Prize China will shine a spotlight on Chinese graduate and emerging artists in both China and the UK.

This new partnership between Artellite and ARTCLOUD creates an International Young Artists Award, that provides a unique prize for emerging artists in China, and promotes outstanding young artists' "signature style". Placing Chinese contemporary art at the center of its mission, the prize, which will run alongside the UK edition will target the global art collector and raise further awareness of young, talented, Chinese artists.

The prize launch was supported by amongst others, the Shenzhen Mayor's office, the Director of the IADC, Wang Chunchen the Chief Curator and Deputy Director of the CAFA Art Museum, Liu Xiaodu chief curator for the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism \ Architecture and director of the Pingshan Art Museum in Shenzhen, Sir Kenneth Olisa, and artist Zhou Li whose solo show 'Original State of Mind' was held at the White Cube, London this spring.

The after party was held at the Hilton Shenzhen Shekou Nanhai.

 

On Sunday, Elinor Olisa headlined the Hyland Art Forum which intended to explore the concept of “Art Communicating Everything” . Held at the Global Original Art Center and bringing together industry leaders in the fields of art, architecture, business and design to share their thoughts and explorations of the collision of art and life and design, to interpret how art has the force to shape contemporary life. The keynote speach was given by Sir Kenneth Olisa who shared his vision for successful partnerships between art and business between the UK and China.

Elinor explored the shared challenges of artists internationally and how they can exploit these to their collective advantage and how, through the global language of art, they can reach audiences beyond their current borders.

The curator, critic, professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, doctoral tutor is currently the deputy director of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and is engaged in the study of modern art history and contemporary art theory and criticism gave a lecture on the history of Art & Business focussing on the often fractious but ultimately essential relationship between the two.

'Art & the City We Live In'

The principal architect and co-founder of URBANUS Architecture & Design Inc discussed how the modern city has developed to allow a collective experience of art and gave an insight into how the cities of the future might look and work.

'What Does An Ideal Home Look Like'

The Vice President of Yatai International and CEO & Chief Designer of ATG·Geisha shared her experiences of working with many of the luxury hotel brands in the world and how art in the home does not necessarily have to mean paintings but can be adopted as the inspiration for everything from furniture to fabrics.
