Sonasa Nanon is a mixed media artist and educator from Germany who focuses on capturing sleek and fresh silhouettes in her artwork. Inspired by minimalism, Sonasa uses anatomically mastered silhouette lines of figures and elements, lighting and metal acrylic paint with a minimum of distracting elements in the background to capture simplicity and movement in her artwork.

1) Which art movement do you consider most influential on your practice?
Minimalism and a fresh silhouette drawing line.
2) Where do you go and when to make your best art?
At home in my small studio space all year round.
3) How do you describe your 'creative process'?
My works present simplicity using anatomically mastered silhouette lines of figures and elements along with lighting using metal acrylic paint with a minimum of distracting elements in the background.
4) Which artist, living or deceased, is the greatest inspiration to you?
Italians, Dutch and French artists such as Leonardo da Vinci and others.
5) If you weren't an artist, what would you do?
A teacher or architect.
6) What do you listen to for inspiration?
Online meditation manifestation music in Hz frequencies.
7) If you could own one artwork, and money was no object, which piece would you acquire?
8) If your dream museum or collection owner came calling, which would it be?
The Albertinum Museum in Germany.
9) What is your key piece of advice for artists embarking on a fine art or creative degree today?
Work diligently and continuously, but know when to stop.
10) What is your favourite book of all time (fiction or non fiction)?
I love non-fiction, especially 'Girl with a Pearl Earring' by Tracy Chevalier.
11) If you could hang or place your artwork in one non-traditional art setting, where would that be?
In any sort of theatrical environment.
12) What was the biggest lesson your university course or time studying taught you?
13) And finally, if we were to fast forward 10 years, where would we find you?
I would probably continue to be in education, as a teacher of visual creation. I would also hope to be able to continue working in my studio.
