About The Symphony Collection
Whilst creating the Symphony collection, Nicola’s intention was to devise a collection of works that translate the animate properties of the subjects she depicts; wild, blooming flowers. With each piece, Nicola aimed to bring her flowers to life on the canvas. Sitting somewhere between abstraction and figurative, Nicola’s floral compositions often appear to be moving on the canvas, creating a sense of movement and fluidity is a very important aspect of Nicola’s practice. Nicola’s process sits very much within the tradition of action painting, she applies gestural strokes to the canvas surface to examine flowers that she typically photographs, through a different lens.
About Nicola Hyslop

Hyslop, who is a full time artist based in Berkshire exhibits internationally. She has most recently had her work featured on Channel 4’s Grand Designs.
