My most recent work have evolved from the natural world into the psychological. They are an amalgamation of everything I have learnt and a culmination of my life experience. Throughout my creative life I have worked in a range of media including painting, ink drawing, ceramics and calligraphy. My work looks at emotional themes which come and go at different times in my life. I am always seeking to illustrate a sense of belonging and a connection to joyfulness, but also a feeling of loss, isolation, insecurity, danger and fear.

My absolute love of white ink and drawing with a dip pen have been an integral part of my practice since I was at art college, and more recently, I have developed a love of Cyanotype photography.
The haunting transparence of cyanotype combined with the beauty of ink I want to create ethereal, sensual work. As a result a new subject is emerging with goddess like nudes and botanical drawings in the deep blue of a Cyanotype print. They present a poetic and powerful sense of sensuality, love, beauty and confidence which I believe form the most important elements of life.

In my botanical paintings, I use plants that have a connection to strength and protection, themes that remain central to my practice. Historically there is profound resonance in botanical paintings: they have been used as a metaphor for the fragility of life and the human condition.

By working with white ink against dark, deep, shadowy backgrounds, I meticulously layer the lines to capture the ethereal translucency of the subject. These intricate, lace-like entanglements suggest a structural complexity that feels both delicate and resilient. Suspended in a single moment, the drawings have further layers of gold glazes, gold leaf and tiny shards of broken glass. These materials add alchemy to the paintings, catching the light and bring movement to the stillness, inviting the viewer to look through the surface.

Born in 1971, I trained in Fine Art Illustration at City and Guilds of London Art School.
