Counterpoint Study I by © Laura H Elliott Mediums used: Acrylic paint (gloss and metallic) and sand on a Loxley gold deep edged canvas Size (w x h x d): 8 x 8 x 1.5 Inches. My biography: "Laura Elliott’s work reflects her desire to be constantly challenging and developing her work in her chosen medium of mixed media painting. Each artwork is inspired by landscapes, yet influenced by her thought processes, emotions and mood at the time of creation, which allows a fluidity of ideas and a freedom of exploration within her work. Her upcoming exhibitions during 2016 will be displaying her newest body of work with the first painting titled ‘Counterpoint’ which developes the 'Landscape Moods' Collection into a new phase. This body of work expresses the concept of two opposing or contrasting elements; with the influence of texture from wood (the earth) and the formation or designs seen in waves (water) as the common thread, unifying the opposing elements of earth and water. In 2017 her new work will take a new step forward, inspired by antlers deer which are naturally shed every year. The metephore for this new collection of paintings is the concept of shedding one part of life or skin and starting anew or fresh. This work will use surface textures and patterns, outline shapes and adding softer lines by using other mediums such as conte pastels to add softer lines, with a stark colour difference to add drama. These paintings are about life and transformation and a new body of work for 2017."
