I live in a beautiful valley in North Wales. Up till now my paintings have all been abstract. However my sketchpad is full of sketches of the local landscape. This painting is a semi-abstract landscape based on several charcoal sketches. It is the first in a body of work in which I am confining my materials to a large sketchpad and charcoal, and using what I record to create semi-abstract landscapes. Nothing is flat around here, so the title "The Dip Between" could apply to almost any local landscape! The work is large and unframed on canvas. I hope it will find a home in a town where a feeling of hills, space and the great outdoors would be welcome.
