Part of series of paintings of butterflies. I now live in the country and see butterflies all the time - but not this one! Based on the idea of butterfly collecting with a trompe l'oell effect referencing butterflies put in cases with labels. I use a mix of graphite and paint to get the effect that I want - which is detail, with simple, highly coloured background. Framed in simple white frame.
