To make this piece I coated the paper with the same chemicals as when cyanotypes were first made in 1842. This was done in near darkness using broad brushstroke (these can be seen in final print)
After coating the paper I left it to dry in total darkness for some hours. The paper I currently use is a heavyweight watercolour paper Bockingford 300GMS. The image is made with UV light and I make test strips to work out correct exposure to make sure both light and dark tones in image. To achieve this particular image I coated the paper wth the light sensitive chemicals twice .Although I will be making a total of 10 images from the negative the chemicals are never applied in the same way and each is unique.
