“The Sound of Feathers” is, again, one of a pair, the other being “In Flight”. However either would display well on their own. Very early on a spring morning recently, I had been out for my morning “sketch walk” when I turned a corner in my village to walk through a small alleyway filled with the leaves of autumn and the emerging shoots of spring.....and disturbed a bird. I was suddenly struck by the sound of the feathers as the bird flew up and away from me. At that moment I heard nothing else, nor was I looking at anything except the leaves and the shoots. It seemed such a precious and elusive moment and I wondered how many of us can actually recall such a lovely light and magical sound. I did what I often do, went home and produced the sound using what I know and like best – the visual language of paint. I would like to feel that this painting could go to a home of bird lovers! The painting is mixed media on chunky canvas and is not framed.
