My artwork takes a critical view of social, political and cultural issues. Often based on my nationalities: Chinese and Trinidadian. Having lived in England most of my life, all three cultural backgrounds interweave and intermix which come through in my work. The 'Chairman’s Family Portrait' references on the Chinese ‘One child policy’. It’s a pixelated family portrait made up of 42 hand dyed shirts all sewn together. The heavily pixilated portrait and the emphasis in manufacture labor portrays the uneven balance of importance in life.
